Roel Vanthillo is an industrial engineer and has extensive experience in the offshore wind industry. Prior to joining Fluves in 2015, he worked for DEME, Cofely Fabricom and Egemin. At DEME Roel took part in the construction of the very first Belgian wind farm C-Power. At Cofely Fabricom he was involved in Belwind (Belgium), Amrumbank-West (Germany) and Butendiek (Germany) as project manager for the low voltage systems of offshore substations. Roel has a broad knowledge of offshore monitoring techniques and the requirements such systems demand.

Dennis Wakaba is an accomplished Urban Planner, a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Expert, and E-Mobility Specialist with a passion for sustainable development.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in urban and Regional Planning (Hons) and a master’s in planning from the University of Nairobi.

With over a decade of experience, Wakaba has played a key role in the design, implementation, and policy development of urban mobility, sustainable cities, and electric vehicle (EV) integration across Sub-Saharan Africa.

His expertise spans master planning, urban design, mobility strategies, policy formulation, feasibility studies, and GIS mapping.

Currently, he serves as the Lead Consultant at BEV Advisory, where he focuses on developing and integrating electric vehicles solutions into transportation and logistics operations.

Previously, he held leadership roles at Roam Electric (formerly Opibus), serving as Head of Public Affairs, Country Sales Executive, and Business Developer.

In these roles, he was instrumental in shaping EV strategies, business models, e-mobility policies, charging infrastructure deployment, and regulatory standards to accelerate EV adoption in Africa.

Wakaba is a founding member of the Electric Mobility Association of Kenya (EMAK), a member of the KEBS Technical Committee on E-Mobility and was the lead consultant in developing the first Strategic Plan for the Association for Electric Mobility & Development in Africa (AEMDA), now AFEMA.

He has significantly contributed to charging infrastructure policies at both national and county levels and was a key figure in launching Kenya’s first electric mass transit bus, operational since August 2022.

Beatrice is the Battery Recycling Technology Lead in the recycling team at Benchmark Mineral Intelligence.

She holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham, giving her an in-depth technical understanding of lithium-ion battery recycling techniques.

Beatrice has been working on the recycling forecast since March 2022, tracking regional advancements in battery recycling infrastructure, technologies, and policy frameworks to build up a global understanding of the lithium-ion battery recycling market.

Sean Kelly is the founder of Transmission Excellence Ltd (“TX”), which undertakes consultancy and software development work. Its primary customers are renewable energy developers and grid companies.

Software products include TXSims (for advanced grid simulation), TXDynamic (for the dynamic rating of export cables) and TXArray (for the design of wind farm collector arrays).

While leading TX, Sean also chaired the grid group of the Offshore Wind Programme Board (OWPB), a joint body between the UK government and the UK offshore wind industry.

In this role he was involved in investigations into export cable reliability following a series of cable failures. Prior to this Sean was a founder and technical director of Transmission Capital Partners, an offshore transmission owner (OFTO) which owns the cables to multiple British offshore wind farms, and prior to that we was in charge of international interconnector development within the British TSO National Grid.

Shantha Bloemen is the founding director of Mobility for Africa, a social enterprise that aims to bring the electric mobility revolution to rural Africa.

The company, operational since 2019, has developed shared mobility solutions with the use of E-tricycles, an off-grid battery swapping system and working with small scale farmers, especially women.

Shantha was part of a team that helped to develop Zimbabwe’s Electric Mobility Policy and Framework.

Dr Saul Jones is the Lead Research in Industrial Energy and Material Sustainability at the Centre for Industrial Sustainability in the Institute for Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge. 

Dr Jones studies patterns in industrial data use in the manufacturing, construction, and infrastructure sectors around the world to identify "blind spots" in how we are currently using, or  more importantly not using, the data which we already have. 

His theory of change challenges the notion that we will deliver large scale transformation rapidly, safely, affordably, and at the scale needed with things which don't exist yet, and his work prioritises "Change within the Possible".

Ilse Gosliga is founder and director of Energiso, a Dutch energy consultancy specializing in regulatory compliance, ISO 50001, and energy management strategy for industry, data centers, and public organizations.

She co-founded and is trustee for the Global Association for Transition Engineering. She was appointed by the Minister of Transport to the Upper North Island Supply Chain Strategy Working Group in New Zealand 2018-2019.

She has a track record of building interdisciplinary research groups and building programmes that integrate research and education with industry, society and governance needs in understanding and navigating sustainable and renewable energy systems transitions.

Recently, Susan has spearheaded a major initiative at HWU to provide on-line, self-paced professional education in systems transition engineering processes and practices.

The modules provide new insights, approaches, methods, tools and case studies through A11TZ Transition Engineering and A11ET Energy Transition Lab through the MSc ReSET programme.
